Sigiriya is a year-round destination, but the best time to start your climb is at 7:00 AM when the gates open. This allows you to avoid the intense midday sun and the larger crowds that arrive later in the morning.
The climb involves approximately 1,200 steps and takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to complete at a steady pace. While the paths are well maintained with sturdy railings, it can be physically demanding, so wearing comfortable walking shoes and staying hydrated is essential.
